Mireille Nem
Duchess, Senator, Retired Admiral and former Jedi Aspirant. Mireille is renowned throughout the Republic for her service during the Rebellion.
Considered a tactical prodigy by her peers and a charismatic leader by her subordinates, Mireille is referred to lovingly as "the Duchess" by the galaxy at large. Unbeknownst to most, Nem would prefer to avoid the public eye.
Struggling with the effects of the war and her freshly-found aptitude with the force, Nem has resolved to follow through on her duties to the New Republic and her homeworld. When finally free of these, however, Nem might choose to put aside the Duchess and explore that which the war deprived her of.
Early Life
The Young Duchess
Mireille was born in 20BBY into the Nem Duchy on Serenno. Brought up in that style, she quickly developed a distaste for the Empire. Upon reaching her early adulthood, Miri began to publicly speak and work against the Imperial regime on Serenno.
Rebellion
Eventually, following a protest turned violent, Nem accrued an Imperial arrest warrant. Unwilling to submit to the mercy of the Emperor, Miri and a band of her close friends formed a small Rebel cell. This would begin a series of events that would lead to Nem joining the Rebel Alliance alongside Maximillian Eroun, her best friend (and eventual lover).
Black Squadron
With the sudden death of Max on Bothawui, Mireille would be transferred from Alliance Command to the Resilience (later renamed to Adinor). Taking command of the newly-minted Black Fleet, Nem would preside over the closing year of the war at the head of her fleet. Waging a series of detached engagements against the ISRG, Nem would quickly distinguish herself, becoming the talk of Alliance command.
Just before the ultimate battle of the war at Prakith, Nem and Black Fleet would conduct a minor insurrection in pursuit of the Imperial super-weapon, the Eclipse. Going against the orders of her immediate superior, Admiral Borsk Fey'lya, Nem would orchestrate a brilliant (and desperate) raid against the Imperial fleet at Byss. Though costly, the battle would prevent the Imperial fleet from intervening at Prakith, shattering the Imperial battleplan and ensuring a Republic victory.
Jedi Path
Following the end of the war, Nem would serve out the first term of Chancellor Mothma as a military advisor. Upon returning to her homeworld of Serenno, Nem was elected to the world's vacant senatorial seat. During this time, Mireille would intermittently rendezvous with former Black Squadron commander Kred Jervata, a Jedi Knight, for training in the ways of the force. Unable to reliably keep up her studies, Nem would eventually allow her studies to lapse.
Jervata, persistent as a rule, would attempt multiple times to assist Nem, but would invariably be called away by his own duties and obligations. Luke Skywalker, master of the Jedi, would level an open invitation for Mireille to join the academy for training if she were so inclined. Yet, even as Kred assisted Nem in the creation of her own lightsaber, Mireille would find herself swamped by her duties to the Senate.
With the final year of her current term approaching, Senator Nem faces an uncertain future. Perhaps when she has put aside the politician, she may find the time and energy to finish her training.
