Kalla Omonda

Heir to the Omonda political dynasty of Chandrila, Kalla would bear witness to the utter destruction of her house at the hand of the Empire.

Working as a deep cover agent, loosely aligned with the cause of the Rebellion, Kalla would slowly build influence within the ISRG, attempting to gain control of a weapon suitable to her purpose.

In the end, due to the efforts of her once-fiancé, Kred Jervata, Omanda would relent in favor of returning home.

Unfortunately, Omanda would die at the hand of Mandalore the Reckoning, succumbing to her wounds in the arms of Jervata.

Early Life

Born in 19BBY on her family's ancestral estate, Kalla would observe the rapid dismantling and re-ordering of the galactic ethos through her mother, Canna. Canna, the matriarch of the house, was heavily involved in all political dealings regarding Chandrilan affairs. A monetary and ideological supporter of Senator Mothma, Canna would inevitably draw the personal ire of Emperor Palpatine.

Kalla, following her mother's example, would grow to hate the Empire. Trained in a variety of skills vital to a future politician, Kalla would also take up certain hobbies and subjects of a military persuasion. Well-renowned for her talent for wargames such as Dejarik and Kaul-Dra, Kalla would also begin training alongside the house Armsman, Magos.

It would be in these lessons, both political and martial, that Kalla would also be introduced to her eventual fiancé, Kred Jervata. An ever-present companion and personal guard, Jervata would share in many of the defining experiences of Kalla's youth.

Prelude to Disaster

In 3BBY, following the resignation of Mothma following an address to the Senate in which the former senator proclaimed her intent to violently oppose the rule of the Emperor, Canna would be elevated by the Chandrilan houses to the position of Senator. Taking the position only as a platform for further resistance, Canna would never travel to Coruscant, refusing to pay homage to her supposed overlord. Believing that the concerns of the intensifying Galactic Civil War would distract the Emperor from pettier grievances, Canna began a campaign to strengthen Chandrila's support against the Empire.

Kalla, now of an age and understanding to develop her own opinion on her mother's designs would council caution. Having long researched and observed the moves of the Emperor in such occasions, Kalla warned of the value that Palpatine placed in making examples of traitors. Even if Chandrila never openly rebelled against the Empire, speaking so openly against the Emperor might invite a violent response.

Canna would take her daughter's council to heart, softening her rhetoric while still covertly supporting Mothma's Rebellion. Meanwhile, Kalla and Kred would formally announce their engagement near the end of the year. With so much in motion, it was decided to delay the union until a more suitable time, where their joy would not be trampled upon by the darkness that ruled the galaxy.

The Fall of House Omonda

Never one to forget a slight, Palpatine's ire would fall on House Omonda with his dissolution of the Imperial Senate in 1BBY. Imperial forces descended upon House Omonda's estate and supporters. Kalla, separated from Kred during their attempted escape, was captured by Imperial forces.

Kalla watched from the bridge of the Star Destroyer as it bombarded her familial estate into a smoldering ruin. Professing throughout the experience that she was loyal to the Emperor, Kalla soon found herself on Coruscant within the halls of the ISB headquarters. Having been careful about to whom she spoke her true feelings, the ISB soon released Kalla following a ritual of capitulation to the Emperor. Forced to bow before the Imperial seat in full view of the court, Kalla swore her undying loyalty to the Emperor, stating her intention to join the Imperial Navy.

Humiliated, deprived and alone, Kalla began to plot the downfall of those whom had taken everything from her.

Black Squadron

Captain Omonda

Excelling in her courses at the Imperial Academy on Coruscant, Kalla quickly rose through the institution's ranks. Falling just short of being first in her class (by design), Kalla was given a wide selection of postings she might prefer. Electing to join the Defense fleet of the Death Star, which had only recently conducted its destruction of Alderaan, Kalla was transferred to the Ill Omen under the command of Captain Fein Pragus.

While in transit to her post, a Rebel strike destroyed the Death Star, leading her chosen fleet to be re-tasked to the defense of another super-weapon: The Eclipse. Serving with distinction through the Mid-Rim offensive, Kalla quickly rose to the rank of Captain, succeeding Fein Pragus as commander of the Ill Omen after his elevation to commodore in 2ABY.

Following the battle of Hoth, the ISRG suffered a security breach in the form of a single errant Rebel fighter. Having apparently conducted a random hyperspace jump, this sole fighter had stumbled upon the Eclipse, leading to the formation of a unit with the sole intent of sabotaging or destroying the ship. As a commander within the defense fleet, Kalla would contest against the forces of Black Squadron many times. Finally discovering the location of their base, Kalla would volunteer the Ill Omen to lead the assault to wipe out the small cell of rebels.

Cornering them, Kalla would call for their immediate surrender, keeping a channel open for reply. When the voice of Kred Jervata responded, revealing his connection with the Captain and intent to fight on, Kalla was left scrambling. Forced to order her ship to fire on her lost love, Kalla begged the force to carry him through until she had gained the opportunity she sought: Control of the Eclipse.

Encountering Black Squadron many times in the closing days of the war, Kalla would walk a fine line in her attempts to preserve Kred while also maintaining her guise as a loyal officer. Tortured internally by this, Kalla would take solace in the thought of a day when the two might be reunited, returning to Chandrila to rebuild her House. Though she knew that future to be unlikely, each encounter with Kred bolstered her hope, giving her the drive she needed to complete her task.

The Eclipse

With the Eclipse finally fully operational, Pragus sought a suitable candidate to command the vessel. With the death of many of his more suitable options and the rapidly deteriorating competency of the Empire's officer corps, Pragus selected Omonda for the post. Brought into the inner circle, Kalla began leaking information on the Empire's plans so as to draw the attention of Black Fleet toward Byss.

When Kred arrived, quickly falling captive to the First Sister alongside Sazi, Kalla was forced into a delicate position. With the First Sister closely watching her every move, suspicious of Omonda's intentions, Kalla gambled to seal her loyalty in the minds of her detractors. Feigning a mock-execution of Jervata, Kalla passed over the final obstacle to full control of the Eclipse's systems, at the cost of breaking Jervata's spirit.

Shortly thereafter, Black Squadron arrived at Byss, utilizing the gas giant to conduct a hit-and-run battle against Imperial forces. Seeking to wipe out the Rebels in a single blow, the First Sister ordered the firing of the Eclipse's main weapon upon the planet. Fudging the weapon's guidance algorithms, Kalla gave the fleet a narrow window of error in which to evade the shot. Gazing over the roiling scar of dark energy left upon the gas giant, Kalla had once again confirmed her abiding loyalty.

When the First Sister retreated to the Eclipse's sanctum, leaving Jervata and Sazi on the bridge, Kalla realized that her moment had arrived. Freeing the pair of Jedi, Omonda took control of the Eclipse, preparing the weapon for a wide-beam fire intended to destroy the Imperial fleet guarding ahead of the Eclipse. Kred, whom had reasoned that this would also destroy Black Fleet, managed to convince Kalla that using such a weapon would break Kalla. Realizing the truth in his words, Kalla relented, planning to help scuttle the ship.

Unfortunately, with the arrival of Mandalore the Reckoning to the bridge, the firing sequence would be activated. Working to reverse this, Kalla would be struck by stray fire from Mandalore's blasters. Mortally wounded, Mandalore used Kalla's condition as a means to persuade Kred and Sazi to seek aid for her. Giving in, the Jedi prepared to rush to the medical wing, only to be stopped by the effects of the Eclipse's secondary weapon.

Watching from the floor as Kred and Sazi fought a mad duel under the effects of the weapon, Kalla begged for Kred. Fading quickly, she soon realized that the dream of her return to Chandrila would never be. By the time Kred returned to his senses, there was nothing to be done for Kalla. Delirious from pain and blood loss, she began to lose consciousness. Her final words to Kred reaffirmed the desire she had fought so long to obtain.

"I- I just want to go home. Please- Kred."
